Bayern smash Salzburg on their way to the quarters

After a 1-1 draw against Salzburg in Austria, Bayern faced the prospect of being knocked out in the round of 16. However, Nagelsmann’s side showed Europe why they are champions in Germany, obliterating the Austrian side in a match where they dominated in a way not seen since Flick’s time at the club.

A first-half Lewandowski hattrick propelled the home side to a 7-1 victory with Muller, Sane, and Gnabry also getting on the score sheet. This was RB Salzburg’s heaviest defeat in the Champions League, with the previous big loss also coming in the hands of Bayern Munich in November 2020.

Liverpool lose but progress

Champions league continues tonight

Tonight , Manchester City who have one leg in the quarter finals are at home to Sporting Lisbon. City only have 14 players available with Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Kyle Walker, Nathan Ake and Zack Steffen all unavailable for this match. Benfica travel to Amsterdam to face Ajax in what is still an open tie.
