National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi is a troubled man, before the dust settles, a group of politicians from the Democratic Party (DP) protested the move and urged the Registrar of Political Parties to reject a coalition agreement between DP and the Kenya Kwanza alliance.

the politicians said that Muturi by signing a coalition agreement with Kenya Kwanza Alliance was against the party’s NDC that settled on not joining any political alliances ahead of the August polls

A letter seen by The Daily Whistle, DP’s Secretary Generaltermed the move by Muturi as aviolation, disregard, and subversion of the will of the party members

“Having attended the NDC, we are therefore surprised by the announcement by the Party leader Justin Muturi this morning that the Party has joined the Kenya Kwanza Coalition in complete violation, disregard and subversion of the will of the party members as conveyed in the resolutions of the NDC,” the letter reads in part.

According to DP’s Secretary-General Wambugu Nyamu, members had agreed that they can sign a coalition after the August General Elections

On Saturday Muturi who had been endorsed by Democratic Party as its presidential candidate signed a coalition agreement with Kenya Kwanza Alliance led by Deputy President William Ruto

In his Speech, Muturi said that “I did promise as instructed by the party‘s NDC, I would consult with all like-minded leaders to ensure our country moves forward. I am very happy that my party has given me the bargain with my brothers that we cannot be if the others aren’t,” Muturi stated.
