Former Miss USA Cheslie Kyrst has died. According to members of her family and the New York police department, Cheslie died Sunday Morning. Kyrst is said to have died after jumping from a building in Manhattan. Confirming the incident, detective Martin Brown noted that the New York Police Department (NYPD) would continue to look into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Cheslie was an attorney who was always seeking to help reform the justice system apart from being a fashion blogger and an entertainment news Correspondent. She was crowned Miss USA in 2019.
“In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie,” Kryst’s family said in a statement. “Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed, and she shined.”
Before her death, the former Miss USA took it to Instagram, where she posted a photo of herself with the caption, “May this day bring you rest and peace.
Fighting against all odds
In 2019, Kryst won her crown as Miss USA despite being among an unprecedented slate of five major pageant winners who all were women of color. Kryst will also be remembered for helping prisoners sentenced unjustly for her legal works.
Kyrst died at 30 years.
