President Mwai Kibaki is Dead, Flags To Be Flown Half-mast

President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the death of the Third President of Kenya Mwai Emilio Kibaki

Uhuru announced that Kibaki died on the night of Thursday, April 21.

Uhuru mourned Kibaki as a leader who steered to country’s economic growth, democracy and championed the welfare of all Kenyans.

He remembered him for his role in the realization of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya and overseeing its implementation.

In his announcement the president declared a period of mourning, including the flying of flags at half-mast until a state funeral is held for Kibaki. 

The President announced that the flag of the Republic of Kenya shall be flown at half-mast at State House and all Kenyan Diplomatic Missions, Public Buildings and Public Grounds, all Military Bases, Posts, and Stations, on all Naval Vessels of the Republic of Kenya, and elsewhere throughout the entire territory of the Republic of Kenya; from today until sunset on the day of his interment
