Konshens answers Eric Omondi

Eric Omondi continued with his onslaught against the ever increasing number of foreign musicians trooping into the country.a statement on his Instagram account read,”HONESTLY are we doing this BADLY😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥 Is the State of our MUSIC Industry REEEEALY THIS BAD???????? I really have nothing against International ARTISTS my HEART is PROFUSELY BLEEDING for our INDUSTRY. You HONESTLY want to tell me that a @khaligraph_jones @otilebrown @realshinski CONCERT cannot pull Crowds on the LAST DAY of the YEAR😥😥😥😥. I have no PROBLEM with Konshens. My Issue is our own MESSAGING!!! We are and have been KILLING OUR OWN!!! It’s all in the MESSAGING PEOPLE, MESSAGING is everything. SO next week KENYAN ARTISTS will be UNVEILED as CURTAIN RAISERS😥😥😥😥😥😥”

He posted this while captioning a poster of dancehall maestro, Konshens.

This post sparked a lot of reaction from both the local artists and fans.Among those who commented on the comedians post was Konshens, this was his response

“Blessings my friend. I find this very interesting. Many people are sending your words to me. Would love to sit down and hear what exactly your issue is, are you upset with international artistes for loving your country? Local artistes and promoters for not doing enough shows? Local fans for showing too much love to international artistes or not showing enough support locally? Or what? Nobody is trying to milk your country, your country just has a craazy love for all genres of music and a respect for artistry thats why artistes love it there, i had 4 offers for dec 31st all waaaaay closer to my home and less of a hassle but i chose KENYA because of the raw vibe and energy there and im sure i can speak for other artistes to say nobody is broke at home waiting for Kenya to call lol, we just love your country and your people and they love us back. You should be direct with what your real issue is instead of these “Trump like” tactics. Lets talk one day. Or maybe ur just joking🤷🏾‍♂️. But if ur serious lets open a line” Konshens reply reads.

Among artists who responded was Bien of Sauti Sol who felt like theres no problem with foreign artists coming to Kenya as Kenyan artists are performing in other countries.

Konshens is set to perform at Carnivore grounds on 31st Dec,2021

The award winning comedian has been in the limelight as he pushes for local media houses to play 75 percent of local music. Omondi also petitioned the parliament to make a law on the same
