Osoro said the confrontation between the neighbouring communities was unnecessary and urged residents to immediately stop the violence and embrace dialogue.
“The war between our neighbours, Maasai and Abagusii (S. Mugirango and Bomachoge Borabu), is not only unfortunate, but unnecessary,” Osoro said in a statement shared on social media.
The South Mugirango MP expressed concern over the confrontation, questioning why communities living next to each other should resort to violence to resolve their differences.
“It is even shameful to mention the cause,” Osoro said, before making a direct appeal to those involved: “Please, WACHENI.”

Silvanus Osoro holds talks with leaders
Osoro said he had engaged leaders from both sides of the conflict in an effort to bring the situation under control and establish a path towards peace.
“This evening, we have talked with all the leaders, Hon. Sunkuli and Hon. Barongo, and we are all in agreement that we honestly need to end this,” he said.
The MP said the discussions had established a shared commitment among the leaders to end the confrontation and prevent further escalation.
His remarks pointed to the need for political leaders from both communities to work together in calming residents and encouraging peaceful resolution of disputes.
Osoro rejects use of arrows in border conflict
Osoro also condemned the use of traditional weapons in the confrontation, saying such violence had no place in modern Kenya.
“At this time and age, hatufai kulimana na mishale kwa border,” he said.
The remarks came with Osoro urging residents on both sides to exercise restraint and allow leaders and government authorities to address the issues contributing to the conflict.
He stressed that continued fighting would only worsen relations between the neighbouring communities.
MP calls for immediate ceasefire
Osoro issued a strong appeal for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
“We call for CEASE-FIRE immediately,” he said.
The MP said the call for calm would be accompanied by efforts to engage the national government in finding a lasting solution to the conflict.
He said leaders would engage the Interior Cabinet Secretary and his team as part of efforts to address the situation.
“Even as we engage the CS INTERIOR and his team to come up with a lasting solution to this unnecessary conflict,” Osoro said.
Osoro's message comes as leaders seek to prevent tensions between the Maasai and Abagusii communities from escalating further along the border.
The South Mugirango legislator's appeal places emphasis on an immediate end to hostilities, followed by dialogue involving community leaders and the national government.
For Osoro, the priority is to stop the fighting first and create room for leaders and government officials to address the underlying issues through dialogue rather than violence.
His message to residents was direct: “Please, WACHENI” and “CEASE-FIRE immediately.”
