In a heartfelt message of condolence, Kenya's Fourth President praised the late Sheikh Hamad for championing education, diplomacy, economic development and global cooperation, saying his legacy would continue to inspire generations across the world.
"It is with profound sorrow that I mourn the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Emir of the State of Qatar," Uhuru said.
The former Head of State extended his deepest sympathies to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, the Royal Family and the people of Qatar following the death of one of the country's most influential leaders.
"I extend heartfelt condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, the Royal Family, and the brotherly people of Qatar," he stated.
Uhuru described the late Father Emir as a transformational statesman whose leadership fundamentally changed Qatar's development trajectory, helping transform the Gulf nation into a global economic powerhouse with growing influence in international affairs.
"The late Father Emir was a visionary statesman who transformed Qatar into a modern, prosperous nation and championed education, diplomacy, and sustainable development," he said.
The former President noted that Sheikh Hamad's leadership extended far beyond Qatar's borders, earning him international recognition for promoting peace, dialogue and partnerships among nations.
"His legacy will continue to inspire generations across the world," Uhuru said.
He further praised the late leader's commitment to strengthening international friendships, saying Kenya remained grateful for the warm relations that flourished between Nairobi and Doha during Sheikh Hamad's era.
"He will be remembered with gratitude for his dedication to fostering global partnerships and for strengthening the bonds of friendship between our two nations," Uhuru added.
Kenya and Qatar have enjoyed cordial diplomatic relations over the years, with cooperation spanning trade, labour, aviation, education, tourism and investment. Thousands of Kenyans live and work in Qatar, contributing to the Gulf nation's economy while strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Sheikh Hamad, who served as Emir of Qatar before handing over power to his son Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is widely credited with laying the foundation for modern Qatar. Under his leadership, the country experienced rapid economic growth driven by its vast natural gas resources while investing heavily in infrastructure, healthcare, education and global diplomacy.
His administration also elevated Qatar's international profile through mediation efforts in regional conflicts and major investments in education and research, helping position the country as a key global player.
Reflecting on the late Emir's enduring impact, Uhuru said the world would continue to draw inspiration from his leadership and vision.
"My family and I stand in solidarity with the people of Qatar during this period of mourning," he said.
The former President concluded his message by offering prayers for the late Father Emir and the people of Qatar.
"We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest in Jannah and comforts the Royal Family and the nation," Uhuru said.
The passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani marks the end of an era for Qatar and the wider Middle East. His leadership transformed a small Gulf state into one of the world's wealthiest nations and an influential voice in global diplomacy, development and humanitarian affairs.
As tributes continue to pour in from across the international community, Uhuru Kenyatta's message adds Kenya's voice to the growing recognition of a leader whose vision, statesmanship and commitment to international cooperation left an enduring mark on Qatar, the region and the world.
