President Museveni’s son has resigned from the military

Muhoozi Kainerugaba has tendered his resignation as lieutenant-general of the army after 28 years of service in the Ugandan army.

Lieutenant-General Muhozi is the son of Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

“After 28 years of service in my glorious military, the greatest military in the world, I am happy to announce my retirement,” he wrote on his social media account.

Muhoozi announced through his social media handles thanked his military colleagues for the good job they have done in protecting the country.

“Me and my soldiers have achieved so much! I have only love and respect for all those great men and women that achieve greatness for Uganda every day.”

The 47-year-old rise in the military has been questioned as some viewed him as President Museveni’s successor

Before his resignation, he served as the commander of the land forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) and as the Presidential Adviser
