Raila Odinga began his Rift Valley tour by holding an indoor meeting with various leaders from the South Rift region.

Odinga was accompanied by Governor Alex Tolgos who introduced him to the Iten residents.

When Odinga began to speak, the youths began chanting the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party chants

Kipkorir Menjo, who was one of the organizers of the Raila rally, condemned the incident asking Rift Valley residents to be more tolerant.

“This happened due to the influence of our opponents who do not want us to sell our agenda in the region. Voting is not taking place today, why send people to heckle us?” Menjo said.
