The Wiper Democratic Movement Party has cleared former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko to participate in the party’s primaries to be held later this month
Sonko’s name was submitted to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for clearance, he will battle it out with Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo, who is also seeking the Wiper ticket.
Sonko is eyeing the Mombasa top seat, if he wins the Wiper Nominations, he will battle it out with Senator Hassan Omar, who will run on a UDA ticket, Mvita MP Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir, and Mombasa Businessman Suleiman Shabal, who are seeking the ODM ticket.
Mike Sonko was impeached as the Nairobi Governor, he was accused of abuse of office, gross misconduct, and lack of capability to run county affairs.

In his defense,e Sonko alleged that he was not given time to go through the documents he signed at the State House
