Telkom customers in some parts of the country were left stranded after experiencing hours of service outage. Many of the users complained that they were unable to access Mobile Voice and data services on Wednesday, January 19, 2022
Confirming the incident, the company’s Chief executive Mr Mugo Kibati issued a statement to all the customers apologising for the inconveniences caused.
“I apologise for any inconveniences this service outage has caused our customers and assure them that we are working to restore services back to all areas as soon as possible,” read the statement.
The statement came in hours after a scroll of Kenyans took it to various social media channels on their inability to access vital services such as calls and SMS from the tariff.
Also confirming the outage the internet observatory firm, NetBlocks, reported that the Telco was experiencing a nation-scale outage.
This interruption is said to affect its GSM as well as global data with the real time network data showing that the connectivity was at 9% of the ordinary levels.
The Telecommunication company which serves up to four million subscribers in Kenya has promised not to bill its Mobile customers for the period starting 6:00pm , Wednesday January 19,2022 through to 6:00pm Thursday, January 20,2022
