Emotional Send-Off as Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho is Laid to Rest in Kiambu

EmTigoni, Kiambu County, April 10, 2026* — Family, friends, and national leaders on Friday gathered in Tigoni, Kiambu County, to bid farewell to Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho in a solemn ceremony that celebrated his life and service.

The three-term legislator, who first entered Parliament in 2013, was laid to rest at his Island Farm home following his passing on March 29, 2026.

A host of leaders attended the burial, among them Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, alongside several Members of Parliament. Speakers at the event maintained a non-political tone, focusing on messages of condolence and tribute to the late lawmaker.

The funeral service was conducted by clergy from the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), reflecting the family’s strong religious foundation. His widow, Jacqueline Njeri Njuguna, an elder at St. Andrew’s PCEA Church, took part in the service as mourners paid their final respects.

Earlier, thousands of residents had gathered in Nyandarua County during a memorial service held at the proposed Nyandarua University grounds. President William Ruto and other national leaders joined residents in honoring the late MP, describing him as a dedicated servant of the people.

Kiaraho, fondly known as “Daddy wa Power” among his constituents, was remembered for his strong push for development projects and his close connection with the people of Ol Kalou.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula described him as a disciplined and committed leader, noting his exemplary conduct in Parliament. He observed that the late MP consistently upheld House rules throughout his tenure.

In a symbolic gesture, the Speaker presented the family with a collection of Kiaraho’s Hansard records, capturing his contributions in Parliament over the years.

In a moving tribute, Members of Parliament joined together to sing the hymn Cha Kutumaini Sina, bringing a moment of reflection during the ceremony.

President Ruto, in his message, praised Kiaraho’s unwavering focus on development, noting that his engagements were always centered on improving the lives of his constituents.

The large turnout at both the memorial and burial underscored the respect and admiration the late legislator commanded across the country.

He is survived by his family, who received messages of comfort and support as the nation mourns a leader many described as dedicated, focused, and deeply committed to public service.
