Police in Trans Nzoia County have arrested a suspect linked to a violent home invasion that left a local couple traumatized. The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Lomoket, was cornered by residents following the failed robbery attempt.
Meanwhile, a police manhunt is underway for three more accomplices, with authorities recovering an AK-47 rifle from one suspect’s hideout.
How the Home Invasion Unfolded
The victims, a couple living in a grass-thatched house, had just retired for the night when they were jolted awake by strange noises outside. To their horror, their roof was being dismantled from above.
“Linganyak! Linganyak! How many times have we called you?” one of the assailants shouted. “We know you brought money from Nairobi. Bring it out now!”

Panicked, the wife let out a desperate scream, hoping to alert neighbors. The criminals responded with a gunshot from an AK-47, but the bullet missed. Realizing their plan had failed, the gang fled into the night.
Suspect Arrested After Community-Led Pursuit
At dawn, determined locals followed footprints left at the scene, leading them to the home of Lomoket. Upon spotting the approaching crowd, he attempted to flee but was quickly subdued.
“He tried to run, but the villagers were faster,” said a witness. “He received a few slaps to remind him that crime does not pay.”
Under pressure, Lomoket confessed to being part of the gang and led the search team to an accomplice’s hideout. While the suspect, identified as Bosco, managed to escape, officers recovered an AK-47 rifle hidden in a sack of maize.
Police Intensify Manhunt for Remaining Gang Members
Authorities have confirmed that Lomoket is in custody and will face charges of attempted robbery with violence, a serious offense under Kenyan law.
“We recovered a firearm, which will be crucial in our investigations,” said a local detective.
“The suspect is now in custody and will be processed accordingly.”
Meanwhile, officers have launched a full-scale search for the remaining suspects.
“The hunt is on,” stated an officer involved in the case. “We will not rest until every suspect is brought to book.”
Residents Call for Justice and Better Security
The swift response by both the community and police has been praised, but locals are urging authorities to do more to curb rising crime.
“We are tired of living in fear,” said a village elder. “These criminals must face the law, and the government must increase security patrols.”
Another resident, who requested anonymity, added, “We hope this arrest sends a strong message to other criminals. The people of Endebes will not tolerate lawlessness.”
