KPC Foundation Launches Sanaa with KPC to Empower Kenya’s Creative Industry

Nairobi, Kenya – March 30, 2026: KPC Foundation, in partnership with eKitabu, hosted the inaugural Sanaa with KPC event at Mlango Farm, providing a platform for writers, visual artists, and cultural practitioners to showcase their talent and explore sustainable opportunities in Kenya’s creative economy.

Supporting Local Artists and Strengthening the Creative Sector

Ms Zilper Abong’o, KPC Foundation Board Member, highlighted the challenges facing Kenya’s creative sector, saying it is bold, vibrant, and full of promise. However, despite its potential to generate employment and drive economic growth, it remains largely informal. Many artists face fragmented networks, limited market access, and a lack of sustainable income streams.

She added that Sanaa, with KPC, seeks to address these gaps by fostering strategic partnerships, connecting creators to viable market opportunities, and creating sustainable platforms for showcasing creative work.

Integrating Creativity into Corporate Platforms

KPC Foundation also revealed plans to integrate local artists into corporate events, including golf tournaments, business forums, and staff engagement open days. Ms Rachel Gathoni, KPC Foundation Manager, said this is part of their broader vision to elevate homegrown creativity, expand market access for Kenyan artists, and ensure their work reaches wider audiences both locally and internationally.

eKitabu Hails Initiative as a Step Toward Sector Growth

Will Clurman, Co-Founder and CEO of eKitabu, praised the launch as a milestone for Kenya’s creative sector. He said Sanaa with KPC is a platform for collective action in identifying and addressing barriers that limit the sector’s potential, recognising creativity as a key driver of national identity, economic transformation, and social impact.

A Long-Term Vision for Kenya’s Creative Economy

The event marks the start of a long-term initiative aimed at fostering collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth in Kenya’s creative industry. The KPC Foundation reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that empower communities, promote inclusion, and contribute to national development through culture and creativity.
