The girl's mother, speaking before the congregation, narrated the family's long and painful search for answers, saying her daughter has undergone numerous medical tests but doctors have yet to establish the exact cause of her condition.
According to the mother, the teenager first fell ill last year while she was a Form Three student at Kangundo Road School.
"My child was admitted last year while in Form Three at Kangundo Road, and the results came saying she had a problem with her kidney. They also noted that her joints had been affected," she told the congregation.
The mother said the family was later referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized tests in the hope of obtaining a diagnosis.
"We were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further tests, but the results didn't show the disease. She was only given painkillers," she said.
She explained that her daughter's condition has continued to worsen. According to the mother, the teenager experiences persistent pain, struggles to eat, has become physically weak and her hands have gradually curled, making it increasingly difficult for her to carry out everyday activities.
The single mother further revealed that she had been forced to quit her job to care for her daughter full-time, leaving the family without a stable source of income as medical expenses continued to mount.
The emotional testimony moved many members of the congregation, prompting Prophet Kanyari to intervene.
"I want to assure you that I am going to walk with you through this difficult journey. I will pay all her medical bills, cater for all the tests she needs, and I will make sure she goes back to school and finishes her education to achieve all her dreams," Kanyari said.
Besides undertaking to pay for further medical examinations and treatment, Kanyari also pledged to register the family under the Social Health Authority (SHA) to ensure they can continue accessing healthcare as doctors work to determine the cause of the girl's illness.
The announcement drew applause from worshippers, many describing the pledge as a significant relief for a family that had exhausted much of its financial resources seeking treatment.
Charity Work Beyond the Pulpit
Kanyari's latest intervention adds to a growing list of charitable activities he has undertaken through Salvation Healing Ministry.
In recent months, the televangelist has launched several community empowerment initiatives targeting unemployed youth, vulnerable families, widows, orphans and school-going children across Kasarani.
Among the most notable programmes has been the donation of motorcycles to youth groups and boda boda riders as part of an initiative aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities. He has also distributed mkokoteni (handcarts), business equipment and startup support to young entrepreneurs and single mothers seeking to establish small businesses.
His education programme has similarly attracted attention after he donated school uniforms, shoes and school bags to hundreds of needy pupils, in addition to paying school fees for selected learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The ministry has also been involved in settling hospital bills for patients unable to afford treatment, donating food and other essential household supplies to struggling families, and extending assistance to widows, orphans and persons living with disabilities.
Supporters say the initiatives have provided practical help to many families facing economic hardship, while critics argue that the programmes should be viewed alongside Kanyari's broader public record and growing political profile.
Political Ambitions
Beyond his pastoral work, Kanyari has publicly declared his intention to contest the Kasarani parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
He has said he hopes to complement his ministry through public service, arguing that leadership should be demonstrated through practical service to communities.
According to Kanyari, his priorities would include expanding access to healthcare, improving education, creating employment opportunities for young people, empowering women and small businesses, and improving infrastructure within the constituency.
Political analysts say his growing grassroots empowerment programmes have increased his visibility ahead of the 2027 elections, although it remains to be seen how voters will respond once campaigns officially begin.
For the struggling mother and her daughter, however, political debates were far removed from their immediate concerns. Their priority remains finding a diagnosis and treatment that will restore the teenager's health.
Kanyari's pledge to meet the family's medical costs, facilitate further tests, provide SHA cover and support the girl's return to school has renewed hope that she will receive the specialized care she needs and eventually resume her education.
Whether the intervention ultimately changes the girl's fortunes will depend on the outcome of the medical investigations. For now, the family's focus is on finding answers after months of uncertainty, while Kanyari has committed to standing with them throughout that journey.
