The ministry of Health on Wednesday announced that 813 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 6,005 in the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate stands at 13.5 percent.
“From the cases, 656 are Kenyans while 157 are foreigners.421 males and 392 are females. The youngest is a four month old baby and the oldest is 103 years. Total confirmed positive cases are now 314,490 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,117,407.” The Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe said.
In terms of county distribution Nairobi county is leading with 358,Siaya 73,Bomet 67,Nakuru 29,Laikipia 24,Kisumu 20,Kilifi 20,Nyandarua 19,Marsabit and Mombasa 18,Uasin Gishu 17,Kiambu 15,Kitui and Embu 13,Kakamega 11,Migori 10,Muranga 9,Lamu 7,Makueni 7,Busia,Garissa and Nandi 6,Machakos and Meru 5 each,Baringo 4,Homa Bay 4,Kericho 4,Kisii 3,Kajiado 3,Narok 3,Trans Nzoia 3,Bungoma 2,Kwale 2,Nyeri 2,Turkana 2,Vihiga 2,West Pokot 1,Samburu 1 and Taita Taveta 1.
“Unfortunately, 7 patients have succumbed to the disease, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility records audit in the month of September 2021 and January 2022.This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 5,469.”Kagwe said
A total of 1,201 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 17,443 are under home based Isolation and Care program.
47 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 44 of them on ventilatory support while three are on supplemental oxygen.
Another 301 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 293 of them are in the general wards.8 patients are in the High Dependency Unit.
