Dennis Itumbi Alleges Kalonzo Musyoka Has Settled on “Ukombozi Linda Mwananchi Alliance,” Claims Babu Owino Line-Up for Nairobi

Itumbi Claims New Opposition Coalition, Nairobi Deal Already Finalised Ahead of 2027 Race

Government digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has stirred fresh political debate after alleging that opposition leaders led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka have already settled on a new political formation dubbed the Ukombozi Linda Mwananchi Alliance, alongside a near-finalised Nairobi election strategy.

In a lengthy, highly charged message addressed to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua—whom he repeatedly referred to as “Jofri”—Itumbi suggested that key opposition players are already moving ahead with campaign plans, coalition branding, and candidate allocations ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“As you retreat to think through and plan your role in the June 24th and 25th protests, as well as Saba Saba, we wish you well,” Itumbi wrote.

Kalonzo Musyoka and Edwin Sifuna Allegedly Agree on Coalition Name

Itumbi further claimed that Kalonzo Musyoka and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna had already settled on the name of their political alliance.

“Let me congratulate my good friend Kalonzo Musyoka for finally agreeing with his running mate, Edwin Sifuna, that the name of their coalition shall be Ukombozi Linda Mwananchi Alliance.”

The alleged coalition name has not been publicly confirmed by the leaders mentioned.

Alleged Nairobi 2027 Line-Up: Babu Owino, Nyakera, and Others

The strategist also claimed that the opposition coalition had already agreed on its preferred Nairobi leadership structure.

“They have also agreed on their preferred Nairobi team. Babu Owino will run for Governor, Irungu Nyakera for Senator and someone you do not like for Women Representative.”

He further suggested that Gachagua’s reported preference for a Kikuyu governor in Nairobi had been rejected.

“I know you had previously advised that Nairobi should have a Kikuyu Governor. They have respectfully rejected that suggestion and settled on their own lineup.”

Itumbi also alleged internal disagreements over possible parliamentary seat shifts involving Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and former Cabinet Secretary Irungu Nyakera.

“They are equally aware that you would have preferred Irungu Nyakera to challenge for Babu Owino’s Embakasi seat, but they are comfortable with the arrangement they have chosen.”

Claims of Internal Rift and Financial Allegations

In the politically charged message, Itumbi further alleged that Nyakera had expressed dissatisfaction with Gachagua’s treatment of him, including unverified claims of financial contributions.

“Nyakera himself says you have mistreated him… especially with all the money he has given DCP.”

These claims have not been independently verified.

Opposition Campaign Trail and Mt Kenya Strategy

Itumbi also alleged that the coalition would proceed with planned political rallies in the Mt Kenya region, regardless of Gachagua’s influence.

“The team will be in the mountain, demonstrating they do not need you to make entry. Linda Mwananchi will be in Thika on 11th June and in Meru on 21st June.”

Kalonzo Presidential Bid Allegations and Party Defections

He further claimed that Kalonzo Musyoka is preparing to formally launch a presidential bid in August.

“Kalonzo’s foot is firmly on the accelerator… SKM will unveil his bid in August.”

According to Itumbi, the alleged Ukombozi Linda Mwananchi Alliance has already attracted seven political parties expected to sign a memorandum of understanding in the coming weeks.

He named several political figures he claims are aligned to the formation, including Eugene Wamalwa, Justin Muturi, Lenny Kivuti, Kawira Mwangaza, Irungu Nyakera, and Kalonzo Musyoka.

Claims of Private Political Conversations and “45-Day Timeline” Joke

Itumbi also referenced what he described as a private conversation involving former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Kalonzo Musyoka, claiming participants mocked Gachagua’s political timelines.

“One of them remarked, ‘He is basically saying negotiate with me within 45 days. In reality, you only have 44 days left to give me a deal.’”

Conclusion: Political Messaging Intensifies Ahead of 2027 Race

The remarks by Dennis Itumbi come amid rising political activity and coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 General Election, with various leaders positioning themselves in emerging alliances.

However, none of the political figures mentioned in the claims have officially confirmed the alleged coalition name, candidate agreements, or internal discussions outlined in Itumbi’s statement.

The developments highlight growing political tension, competing narratives, and early strategic positioning within Kenya’s evolving opposition landscape.
