Victor Kanyari Recounts Troubled Marriage With Late Betty Bayo, Reveals Emotional Reconciliation Attempt That Went Wrong

Televangelist Victor Kanyari of Salvation Healing Ministry has opened up about his past marriage with the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, revisiting a highly emotional and dramatic moment from their relationship that he says still stands out to him to this day.

Kanyari, who is also vying for the Kasarani parliamentary seat currently held by MP Ronald Karauri, made the remarks while reflecting on his personal life, forgiveness, and his ongoing community empowerment initiatives.

Relationship with the late Betty Bayo

Victor Kanyari and the late Betty Bayo were once one of Kenya’s most talked-about gospel celebrity couples before their marriage eventually collapsed. The two later separated and went their own ways, though they continued co-parenting their children. Betty Bayo later built a successful gospel music career before her death in November 2025 after battling leukaemia.

Their past relationship has often drawn public interest due to its mix of fame, controversy, and emotional revelations shared over the years.

“I went to apologize, but it did not end as I expected”

Recalling one of the reconciliation attempts during their troubled marriage, Kanyari narrated how he visited Betty at her parents’ home after a disagreement.

“Those days I didn’t have a Lexus. I had a motorbike, a sports bike, but I was not perfect at riding it. So I went to see Betty Bayo at her parents’ house because I had wronged her,” he said.

He explained that Betty later instructed him to leave his motorbike behind before taking him out in her car, a gesture he initially interpreted as forgiveness.

“She told me to leave my bike at her parents’ house. By then she was driving, and she took me to Windsor Hotel. I thought she had forgiven me.”

However, Kanyari said the night turned out very differently from what he had expected, describing it humorously while referencing a movie Betty had watched.

“There’s a popular movie that Betty had watched where a man was given alcohol, became intoxicated, and was beaten by his wife,” he recalled.

The story, told in a light-hearted tone, drew attention for its unusual and dramatic nature, reflecting moments from the couple’s turbulent relationship.

From personal story to political message

Kanyari used the anecdote to highlight broader lessons on forgiveness and to connect it to his current focus on youth empowerment as he campaigns for the Kasarani parliamentary seat.

He said his experiences have influenced his commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and young people through practical economic empowerment programs.

“This week we have more than six motorbikes to give to the youth so that they can empower themselves. These motorbikes will go a long way in helping them feed their families.”

Community donations and emotional testimonies

During the same event, the televangelist-turned-politician distributed two business trolleys and 20 crates of eggs, with one package going to a camera operator and another to a single mother caring for a child with a disability.

The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the support, saying the assistance would significantly improve their livelihoods.

“Thank you very much, Pastor Kanyari, for the trolley. This will be my stepping stone to a better life. At least my disabled child will now be able to have diapers,” said the emotional woman.

The camera operator also thanked Kanyari for standing with him during a difficult personal loss.

“I would like to thank Prophet Kanyari for standing with my family when I lost my father. Thank you very much for the trolley. May God bless you,” he said.

Marion Naipei returns

Kanyari also welcomed back Marion Naipei, who publicly apologized and pledged to change her ways after previously criticizing him and the church.

“I want to thank Daddy for forgiving me, providing for me, and checking up on me and my child,” she said.

The event combined personal reflection, emotional testimonies, and community empowerment efforts, reinforcing Kanyari’s message of forgiveness, resilience, and economic upliftment as he continues his political journey in Kasarani.
