AG Dorcas Oduor and Bangbet Launch Mobile Legal Aid Centers Bringing Justice to Kenya’s Vulnerable

Nairobi — Kenya’s justice system has received a major boost following the launch of the Mobile Legal Aid Center initiative, a collaboration between Attorney General Dorcas Agik Oduor and corporate partner Bangbet.

The programme aims to deliver legal assistance directly to underserved and remote communities, beginning with a pilot rollout in Machakos County before expanding to all 47 counties.

AG Dorcas Oduor: Human-Centered Justice in Action

As Kenya’s first female Attorney General, Dorcas Oduor has consistently emphasized that justice must be accessible and people-centered. Her approach prioritizes dignity and equal access, ensuring no Kenyan is denied legal support because services are too far or too costly.

The mobile units are equipped with soundproof consultation booths, a legal aid and documentation desk, virtual court hearing facilities, solar-powered systems, and wheelchair-friendly access.

Oduor has repeatedly stated that these centers should be places where Kenyans feel heard, reflecting her commitment to making justice practical and reachable.

Bangbet: Corporate Responsibility with Impact

Bangbet has played a central role in making the initiative possible through direct investment in the project’s infrastructure.

The company funded the acquisition and modification of containers, installation of electrical and solar systems, interior outfitting, ICT equipment, and support for virtual court technology and public legal education. Bangbet says its involvement is driven by the belief that a stronger society is built when citizens are informed and empowered.

Human Stories Driving the Initiative

The project is anchored in the everyday experiences of Kenyans who struggle to access justice due to distance, cost, or lack of information.

The mobile centers are expected to change lives by creating safe spaces for children facing family challenges, offering guidance to rural mothers involved in land disputes, and enabling elderly citizens in remote villages to receive mediation without travelling long distances.

These human stories are at the heart of the initiative and reflect the impact that AG Oduor and Bangbet aim to achieve.

A New Standard for Public–Private Collaboration

Following the Machakos pilot, the initiative will be reviewed and expanded across the country with support from State Counsel, pro bono advocates, paralegals, and volunteers.

Observers say the collaboration represents a strong example of how government institutions and private companies can work together to solve long-standing barriers to justice, particularly those affecting vulnerable groups.

Conclusion: Justice With a Human Face

The partnership between Attorney General Dorcas Oduor and Bangbet is redefining how legal services are delivered in Kenya. A simple container, redesigned and deployed into the community, now carries hope and dignity to people who have long been excluded from the justice system.

Th poore initiative stands as a reminder that justice does not have to be distant, and that support can be brought directly to those who need it most.
