Preliminary investigations into the Tuesday incident where a police officer based in Kabete, Kiambu County shot dead his wife and other four people dead before taking his own life. The report indicate that love triangle might be the cause.
This is according to the Cabinet Secretary for interior Fred Matiang’i who said that the incident is being investigated by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the police Internal Affairs Unit of the National Police Service.
The cabinet secretary was speaking during the commemoration to gallant officers who fell in the line of duty at Administration Police Training College in Embakasi.
“We woke up this morning today and found out that one of our officers in Dagoretti has taken his life and five other lives in the process, we are investigating the matter, it is so painful to see how some of us, I really wonder if some of us are human beings or animals, how they trivialize a serious matter like that, they bring porojo and politics in, yet we have a problem. That is not the way to solve a problem”, Matiangi Said.
“The DCI and the Police Internal Affairs department are already on location. Within three days, we should be able to share with the public the findings from the investigations. We have nothing to hide,” He continued.
The cabinet secretary hinted that the police officer might have mental issues.
The cabinet secretary urged members of the public against prosecuting the case on social media instead wait for the direction of the investigations will take.
