Mwangi Wa Iria Pleads Not Guilty to Corruption Charges

Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria, along with two others, has pleaded not guilty to accusations of irregularly awarding contracts worth Sh. 351 million for media buying services.

Wa Iria, David Njeri, and Solomon Kimani appeared before Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzyuki at Milimani Anti-corruption Court.

Despite previous orders halting his prosecution being lifted, Wa Iria was directed by Justice Nixon Sifuna to report to the EACC for processing.

In court, Wa Iria was supported by political allies and represented by a team of lawyers led by Senior Counsel Kalonzo Musyoka.

The prosecution has filed charges against several individuals and companies, including Wa Iria, Patrick Mukuria, Jane Wanjiru Mbuthia, David Kiama, David Maina Njetrii, Jane Waigwe Kimani, Solomon Kimani, Peter Muturi Karanja, Top Image Media Consultants, and Value View Limited.

However, David Maina Kiama and Jane Waigwe Kimani were absent from the court proceedings.
