Narok Leaders Dismiss ‘One-Term’ Narrative, Urge Support for Ruto’s Full Term

Kenya – April 12, 2025Political leaders from Narok County, aligned with President William Ruto, have rejected the growing “One-Term” narrative being pushed by ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

They argue that such claims are premature and should be dismissed, asserting that President Ruto should be judged only after he completes his full five-year term. The leaders, including Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu and Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, made their remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony hosted by Maasai Mara Chief Park Warden Stephen Minis at Olkinyei.

The event, held to honor the late mother of Warden Minis, saw the leaders express confidence in the Kenya Kwanza administration’s ability to deliver on its 10-year mandate.Governor Ntutu, speaking at the ceremony, was quick to assure the residents that the narrative of a “one-term” presidency was baseless.

“This government is still in its early stages,” he stated. “Let us not judge it prematurely. We must allow the President time to fulfill his promises.”

MP Ng’eno, echoing the sentiments of his colleagues, likened the “one-term” talk to judging a student before they’ve taken their final exams.

“It’s like criticizing a student before they sit for their exams,” he said. “We should give the President the opportunity to deliver results before passing judgment.”The leaders also discussed President Ruto’s planned visit to Narok County, which is set for April 29th and 30th.

They described the upcoming visit as an important opportunity for the county to benefit from national development projects. Governor Ntutu mentioned that residents are eagerly anticipating the visit and the development opportunities it could bring.Ntutu, however, issued a stern warning to opposition leaders in Narok County, advising them against using the President’s visit for political theatrics.

“This is not the time for political drama,” he said. “Let’s focus on what truly matters—development and the future of Narok.”MP Ng’eno added his voice to the call for unity, urging fellow leaders to put aside political ambitions for the moment.

“Let the President and governors focus on governance and service delivery. Succession politics can wait until the appropriate time,” he said.

Locals, including community leader Francis Gitau, expressed excitement and optimism about the President’s visit. Gitau shared that residents are hopeful that the visit will bring significant investments and development projects to the region.

“We are eager to see the development that will come with the President’s visit,” Gitau said. One of the key issues raised by the residents is the stalled Uhuru Market project in Narok town. Gitau emphasized that reviving this project would greatly benefit local businesses and boost the county’s economy.

“The completion of the Uhuru Market is long overdue,” he added. “We are hopeful that the President will prioritize it during his visit.”In addition to development concerns, the residents also called on political aspirants to hold off on campaigning until the appropriate time. “We don’t want any distractions. The focus now should be on development, not elections,” Gitau concluded.
