Shadrack Maluki Clinches NOCK Presidency in Tightly Contested 2025 Election

Barnaba Korir, Nahashon Randiek, and Eliud Kipchoge Among Key Winners in National Olympic Committee of Kenya Polls

Shadrack Maluki has been elected President of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK), edging out incumbent Francis Mutuku in a closely fought contest during the 2025 elections held Monday. Maluki garnered 15 votes against Mutuku’s 12, signaling a shift in the leadership of Kenya’s Olympic movement ahead of the next Olympic cycle.

In another hotly contested race, Barnaba Korir clinched the position of First Vice President with 15 votes, defeating Anthony Ombok who secured 12. Nahashon Randiek narrowly won the Second Vice President seat by a single vote, receiving 14 votes to Anthony Kariuki’s 13.

John Ogola was elected Secretary General unopposed after Andrew Mudibo was controversially disqualified from the race. The Assistant Secretary General position went to Francis Karugu, who triumphed with 14 votes over Olympian Humphrey Kayange, who received 13.

Fred Chege was elected Treasurer, defeating Moses Mbuthia 14 to 13, while Charles Mose took the Assistant Treasurer role unopposed following the death of Paul Otula.

In the women’s representative race, Doreen Okiri emerged victorious with 14 votes against Mududa Waweru’s 13.

Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge was elected unopposed as one of the athletes’ representatives, joined by Grace Okulu who won with 15 votes, ahead of Edith Bwisa who managed 12.

For committee member positions, Jocelyn Nyambura topped the race with 16 votes, followed by Suleiman Sumba and Sasha Mutai with 14 votes each, rounding off the list of the top three elected members.

The elections signal a generational shift in NOCK’s leadership, with several new faces set to steer Kenya’s Olympic affairs through the 2028 Los Angeles Games and beyond.
