Safina Deputy Party Leader Fires Back at MP Atandi in Fiery Online Exchange
Safina Deputy Party Leader Willis Otieno has launched a blistering attack on Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, accusing him of intellectual emptiness and failure in his legislative duties.
The war of words erupted after Atandi, while echoing Siaya Governor James Orengo’s remarks during a local radio interview, took a swipe at the Safina Party on X (formerly Twitter). Orengo had said, “Regarding all these political parties, I believe only ODM has a well-known secretary general. If asked about the SG of Safina Party, you’ll not answer.”
Quoting the governor’s remarks, Atandi tagged Otieno and sneered, “Safina Party of the academic dwarf @otienowill has no known Secretary General.”
Otieno swiftly hit back in a scathing online post that has since gone viral, ridiculing the legislator’s intellect and leadership.

“You talk about ‘academic dwarf,’ yet your entire intellectual legacy can’t fill a footnote,” he fired. “Muscles are useful in the gym, not in policy. Kenya didn’t elect you to lift dumbbells — we expected you to lift the quality of debate. But here you are, bench-pressing ignorance on the timeline.”
Otieno went further, mocking Atandi’s position as the Chair of the National Assembly’s Budget Committee.
“You chair Budget but can’t budget your thoughts before tweeting,” he quipped. “A whole legislator confusing a protein shake with political philosophy. You should be more worried about how your policy depth is thinner than a skipping rope.”
He continued: “This is the same man who’s built biceps but forgot to build a single coherent argument. The Chair of Budget who can’t even budget his words before opening his mouth. Man out here talking about ‘academic dwarf’ when his intellectual CV fits on a gym towel.”
The heated exchange has stirred social media, with users split between laughter and disapproval. Some praised Otieno for standing his ground and defending Safina, while others criticized the exchange as unnecessarily personal.
The clash underscores simmering political tensions in the country and the broader rivalry between ODM loyalists and emerging parties challenging their dominance.
