‘I Was Left Alone!’ Kanyari Breaks Silence on Family Fallout, ‘310’ Scandal and Political Dreams

Controversial preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari has once again set social media ablaze after opening up about the painful aftermath of the infamous “310 Panda Mbegu” scandal, claiming it left him abandoned by his family and with only his mother standing by his side.

Speaking during a recent church service, the outspoken preacher became emotional as he recounted one of the darkest periods of his life.

“I was left alone. My wife and children all left me. I remained with my mother only; that’s why I love my mother so much. She is the only one who stood with me,” Kanyari said.

The preacher said the scandal changed his outlook on life and taught him the value of family, particularly the role his mother played during his struggles.

“That’s why I always tell people, instead of bringing me offerings, just take care of your mother. God has already blessed me, and I am enough,” he added.

Kanyari, however, insists that the controversy that rocked his ministry did not destroy him.

“I was only asking for 310 shillings. There are pastors who ask for land and plots; I did not ask for that,” he said.

In a bold claim, the preacher said the scandal made him one of the country’s most recognisable personalities.

“At some point, I was more famous than Raila Odinga. If you went to the newspaper, the first picture was Kanyari, and the second was Kanyari,” he claimed.

Away from the controversy, Kanyari is also battling a public dispute involving his children. The preacher recently lamented that he had been denied an opportunity to spend time with them.

“I have been unable to see my children. I spent Father’s Day without them and I want them back in my life,” he said.

The remarks sparked mixed reactions online, with some Kenyans sympathising with his situation while others accused him of taking private family matters into the public domain.

Adding another twist to his ever-eventful life, Kanyari has hinted at joining politics and grooming a new crop of preachers to carry on his ministry.

“Nitawaachia anointing yangu waendeleze upastor,” he said, meaning, “I will leave my anointing to them so that they can continue with the ministry.”

Despite years of criticism, ridicule and controversy, Kanyari says he has no regrets and believes he has emerged stronger.

“I did not take that thing as something that ruined my name. That is why today I have a church and many followers,” he told his congregation.

Love him or hate him, Pastor Victor Kanyari remains one of Kenya’s most talked-about religious figures, proving once again that wherever he goes, controversy and headlines are never far behind.
