Samsung Appoints its New MD for the East African Region

Samsung Electronics has named Mr Tae Sun Lee as its new East African managing director. Mr Lee takes over from Mr Seok Min Hong who has held the position since September 2017.

Having served as the Strategic Director Integrated Mobility Division at the Southern African Samsung branch, Mr Lee was able to grow the Samsung Mobile market share in South Africa making it the most preferred Smartphone brand.

Lee joined the company in August 2003 having supported mobile operations for Middle East markets, a position he held for five years.

“I am very excited to have joined Samsung Electronics East Africa; I believe that this market has a great deal of potential for our Samsung products. I look forward to serving our customers and working together with the East African Team,” Said Lee in a Statement issued on Monday 24th January 2022.

Experience

Mr Lee has served the company for over 18 years, having served nine years in South Africa and others in supporting Middle East and Africa Business from its South Korean headquarters

Under his new position, Mr Lee will be in charge and responsible for 14 Samsung Electronics markets which make up the East African region. These include Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, and Somali land, Ethiopia, Seychelles, Republic of Congo and DRC.
