It was a tragic moment at Capital Fm offices, after one of its Disk Jockey took his life at the office. Alex Nderi, Famously known as DJ Lithium is alleged to have died by suicide on Wednesday evening. According to his colleagues at the office, Lithium left a suicide note highlighting the reason for him ending his life. According to the note, he pointed to family issues as the reason for his decision.
Eyewitnesses say that he was seen going into the washrooms holding a bottle and a tumbler and it was then that he was suspected to have taken the poison. He was later seen walking sluggishly heading to his desk looking weak. His colleagues called an Ambulance but he later died upon arrival at the Nairobi hospital.
The matter has since been reported to the Kilimani Police Station where further investigations into the matter will continue. Confirming the incident, Kilimani OCS Muturi Mbogo said the DJ was pronounced dead at the Nairobi hospital. “He was rushed to the facility after he collapsed at Capital FM offices located at Lonrho House in Nairobi’s CBD, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival”, he said.
The DJ was well known for hosting the Club Capital show, on Fridays from 11 pm to 2 am as well as The Jam, from 3 pm to 7 pm. Many of his fans have described him as a lover of music and took it to social media to express their condolences.
“His love for music knows no bounds. He is a versatile DJ who can plan anything from R&B TO Hip Hop but his strength lies in EDM and Afro House”, read one of the comments on social media. The station has since then appealed to the public to allow the family to mourn the DJ in private.
