DP Ruto says the Election Bill is meant to Rig in Raila

Deputy President William Samoei Ruto has criticized the Election amendment bill seeking to scrap live streaming of poll results. He said the Bill seeks to install Raila to the people of Kenya.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party presidential candidate termed the bill as an attempt to install a puppet on the Kenyan electorate and sabotage freedom of choice and hard-earned democracy. The plan is evil and must fail.

“The desperate efforts to install project kitendawili by forceful, illegal, undemocratic & unconstitutional means portends a troubling future for Kenya, its democracy, the rule of law, freedom of its citizens and, ultimately, everyone’s well-being.” The Deputy President said.

The DP said that the legislation that seeks to return Kenya to the 2007 voting system was a threat to the Sovereignty of Kenyans

“The assaults on the Constitution through reckless legislative and administrative sleights off-hand, by dark forces operating in shadows, are fundamental ingredients of a coup — the sovereignty of the people of Kenya is under grave threat.” He said.

On Thursday, the Chama Cha Kazi party leader who is also the Member of Parliament for Gatundu South Moses Kuria termed the Bill as a recipe for Chaos.

“I can say without fear of contradiction that the Amendments proposed by up rooter Amos Kimunya are a recipe for chaos. I will oppose,” he said on Facebook.

The Elections (Amendment) Bill, 2022, sponsored by the state and introduced in the House by Majority leader Amos Kimunya provides for a complementary mechanism for voter identification, where IEBC officials would be allowed to use manual registers where Kiems kits fail.

IEBC chairman would only be allowed to declare the presidential results after receiving results from the 290 constituencies, Currently, the chairman is allowed to declare presidential results if the remaining results will not make any change.
