There whereabouts still remains unknown after the abduction.

According to their lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, it is alleged that the two were abducted after the court granted them bail in an ongoing fraud case pitting David Machiri against Equity bank in a Ksh 1.5B fraud case.

David, who was an employee of Equity bank was arrested last month on 12th and charged in a court of law for defrauding equity bank a total of Ksh. 1.5B.

Njiru said that the investigation team wanted David held for 21 days but the court declined and granted him bail saying an officer investigating the matter had also listed the father as a suspect thus a person of interest in the case.

According to his wife, Nancy Wambui, they had spent the better part of the day with her husband and family at the church.

She said they had just retired to bed befire they were woken up by dogs barking as the police broke the gate.

The traumatised family said that’s when they raised alarm before the relatives and neighbors responded to the alarm.

Kenneth Mwangi, brother and neighbor said he responded armed with a panga only to meet heavily armed people who commanded him to go back to his house saying they were police officers.

Susan Mwaura, wife to David Machiri said that she last saw her husband on Sunday morning as she left for church only to get his missed call later and when she called back, he didn’t pick up only for the phone to be switched off and has not seen or heard from him up to now.

Residents raised concerns over the escalating abduction cases in the nation by persons believed to be officers and taken to unknown destinations, only to be released hours later after public uproar.

Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru insisted it is a continuation of the alleged police abuse of power asking the police and the interior CS to intervene and ensure the two are released

He said this is definitely not the Kenya people want saying the rule of law should be respected

Their abduction comes at a time when pressure continues to mounting on authorities to stop abducting Kenyans.
