Today, Governor Wavinya Ndeti introduced an ambitious youth empowerment initiative during public participation forums in Masinga and Yatta Sub-Counties.
Governor Ndeti outlined various key areas of focus aimed at uplifting both rural and urban youth under the newly launched Machakos Youth Program.
This program will offer young people across Machakos the chance to acquire diverse skills that will drive their economic advancement.
Governor Ndeti emphasized that training in Agriculture and ICT will be mandatory for all participants in the program.
The initiative includes a comprehensive grant package featuring 21 days of character development, 14 days of community service with a daily stipend, and a three-month training program at selected vocational centers, where participants will gain skills such as plumbing, mechanical work, electrical tasks, and event management, among others.
To date, 1,200 youths have already been trained in driving and digital skills through this program. The Machakos Youth Program is a joint effort by all departments within the county government.
Machakos County is quickly becoming a leading example in tackling the growing challenges faced by the youth.
