Justice Nyaga Mbogo issued conservatory orders restraining the Isiolo County Assembly from processing or debating a motion tabled on June 10, 2025, seeking the governor’s removal from office. The ruling came after a petition was filed on June 13, 2025, challenging the legality of the impeachment process.
Court Blocks Debate, Orders Disclosure
The court order bars the Assembly and its agents from handling the motion, which had been slated for debate on Tuesday, June 17, or any date thereafter. Justice Mbogo further directed the third respondent to serve the petitioner with a copy of the impeachment motion and all supporting documents within 48 hours of receiving the order.

All respondents must also be formally served with the court application by close of business on June 17, 2025.
This development offers a brief pause to what has become a tense and highly divisive political affair in Isiolo County.

Public Support for Impeachment Still Strong
Despite the court’s intervention, pressure on Governor Guyo continues to mount. Earlier today, a group of residents identifying as representatives of Isiolo’s ethnic communities addressed a press briefing in strong support of the impeachment.
Reading a joint statement, Ali Dima declared the Assembly’s action as “a legitimate exercise of constitutional authority.”

“We call on all residents to attend Wednesday’s public participation session and speak out. The governor must account for his actions,” said Dima.
“The evidence against him—including recorded public insults directed at our senator—is already in the public domain.”
He also dismissed those opposing the impeachment as “paid sympathizers”, saying they do not reflect the true will of Isiolo residents.
Claims of Corruption, Intimidation, and Resource Mismanagement
Other speakers echoed Dima’s sentiment. Luke Mithika accused Governor Guyo of gross misappropriation of development resources, calling for a comprehensive audit of county finances after the impeachment process.
Lokole Esokon condemned alleged threats and intimidation targeting residents and MCAs. He urged the national government to intervene and ensure the safety of elected officials during this politically charged period.
Representing the youth, Nadia Ibrahim expressed frustration with what she termed as a loss of public control over county resources.
“This is not just about politics. It’s about justice and accountability,” said Ibrahim. “The MCAs are doing what the law allows—and what the people demand.”
What’s Next for Isiolo?
While the court’s decision stalls the immediate impeachment plans, the political atmosphere remains volatile. Public participation is still scheduled for Wednesday, and tension is expected to rise ahead of the Assembly’s next move.
The legal battle and public pressure now set the stage for a high-stakes confrontation between the county executive and legislature—one likely to draw national attention in the coming weeeks
