The officers, identified as Police Constables Nicholas Njagi and James Mutabari, were presented in court on Sunday, October 12, 2026, following public outrage over the incident.
According to a report by TV47 Digital, the two officers are accused of committing the offence in their rented house in Kinjo Village before sending the minor back to her mother.
The minor's mother is said to have reported the matter to the authorities after noticing something was wrong with her child, prompting investigations that led to the arrest of the two officers.
The two appeared before Githongo Law Courts where charges were read to them. They did not take plea as the prosecution requested more time to complete investigations.
The case has sparked anger among residents and human rights activists who are demanding justice for the minor. Many Kenyans online have called for the officers to be dismissed from service and for a speedy trial.
The matter will be mentioned again on October 19, 2026, as police continue with investigations.
