Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is unveiling a new political party that he intends to use as his political vehicle in the 2027 General Election.

The launch marks a major development in Sifuna’s plans to contest the presidency as he seeks to build a political platform ahead of the 2027 contest against President William Ruto.

Sifuna has been endorsed by the Linda Mwananchi Movement as its presidential candidate, with the political outfit previously indicating that he would unveil the party through which he intends to seek the presidency.

The development comes amid continued efforts by opposition leaders to establish their political vehicles ahead of the election.

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties recently approved the reservation of the Linda Mwananchi Movement name for 90 days following a ruling by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal. However, reservation of a party name does not amount to full registration as a political party.

More details, including the party’s name, leadership structure and Sifuna’s next political steps, are expected to emerge during the launch.
