Kenya has received a major boost in its Ebola preparedness after India donated medical supplies worth Ksh83.4 million.

The donation was officially handed over today, Monday October 19, 2026, at an event in Nairobi by the High Commission of India.

The consignment is marked as the *"Final Tranche of Medical Assistance for the Prevention of Ebola Virus Disease"* from the People and Government of India to the People and Government of Kenya.

In the photos seen by Daily Whistle, officials from the Indian High Commission are seen handing over the supplies to Health officials led by a senior Ministry of Health representative. The banner behind them confirms the handover date as 19 October 2026.

The donation comes at a critical time when the region is on high alert following Ebola-related cases reported in neighbouring countries. Kenya has heightened surveillance at all border points, especially at JKIA and Busia.

The Ksh83.4 million kit is expected to include personal protective equipment (PPE), lab diagnostics, and isolation unit supplies to help Kenya respond quickly if a case is detected.

India and Kenya have maintained strong health diplomacy, with India being one of the largest suppliers of affordable medicines and medical equipment to Kenya.
