Residents of Metamaywa village in Nyamira were left in shock after a coffin was seen placed by the roadside with only two men beside it, while a crowd watched from a distance.

In a video that has gone viral on Facebook and TikTok, the coffin is seen placed on a wooden table in an open field. One man is seated on a plastic chair next to it, another is standing, trying to fix a small tent over the casket.

Across the road, tens of villagers are standing far away, just watching. No one is near the body.

According to the man who recorded the video, the deceased is said to have died after a quarrel with his mother. That claim has not been confirmed by police or family.

What has angered many online is why the burial was done in such a lonely way. Why was the coffin not taken to the homestead? Why were people keeping distance? Is it a family wrangle, a curse, or a cultural issue?

"Even if someone has wronged the family, you don't leave his coffin by the roadside like that," one user commented.

By evening, the video had attracted hundreds of comments, with many demanding the family and local chief to explain what really happened.

Efforts to get a comment from the area administration are still ongoing. The exact cause of death and why the body was isolated is yet to be established.

What is clear is that the scene left many unsettled. A burial is supposed to bring people together, not scatter them.
