Paul Ngeno Had Been Receiving Treatment

Paul Ngeno’s health had attracted attention just hours before reports of his death emerged.

On Friday, August 21, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited the family of the late Johana Ngeno and pledged to support his brother, who was receiving treatment in hospital.

According to The Standard, Gachagua promised to assist Johana Ngeno’s only surviving brother, who was then admitted to hospital.

The report has added to the shock surrounding Paul Ngeno’s death, with news of his passing coming shortly after the family received support over his medical condition.

Several social-media posts said Paul had been battling illness for some time before his death.

Paul Ngeno Was Johana Ngeno’s Only Surviving Brother

Paul Ngeno was widely identified as the only surviving brother of Johana Ngeno following the former MP’s death.

A March 2026 post described Paul as the “elder and only brother” of Johana Ngeno, while another report identified him as the only surviving son of their mother, Mary Temas.

His death therefore marks another devastating loss for the Ngeno family, coming only months after Johana’s death.

Johana Ngeno Died in Helicopter Crash

Johana Ngeno died on February 28, 2026, after a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County.

The former Emurua Dikirr MP was among six people who died in the crash. The tragedy plunged his family, political supporters and residents of his constituency into mourning.

According to The Standard, the helicopter crash occurred at Chepkiep village in Mosop after the aircraft reportedly encountered poor weather conditions. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority had not publicly released the final findings of its investigation at the time of the report.

The circumstances surrounding Johana Ngeno’s death have continued to attract public attention, including questions raised by political leaders about the cause of the crash.

Gachagua Had Pledged to Help the Family

Paul’s health became a major concern for the family as they continued to deal with the loss of Johana.

During his Friday visit to the Ngeno family, Gachagua also pledged to support the family in honouring the late MP.

He promised to personally finance the construction of a mausoleum over Johana Ngeno’s grave after the family requested assistance in providing a more permanent structure over the former MP’s resting place.

The pledge came as the family continued to mourn Johana while also dealing with Paul’s illness.

Tributes Pour In for Paul Ngeno

News of Paul Ngeno’s death has triggered an outpouring of condolence messages, with mourners describing his death as another painful blow to the family.

His death has renewed attention on the Ngeno family, which is now mourning two close family members within months.
