Robert Alai Drops Bombshell on Orengo Allies as ODM Heat Intensifies in Nyanza

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has made a bold claim about the political situation in Nyanza, alleging that key allies of Siaya Governor James Orengo are now making their way back to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Alai claimed that politicians who had moved away from ODM were finding the political ground increasingly difficult, with the party retaining a strong support base in the region.

“Orengo's key guys in Nyanza are running back to ODM. Wamepata ground ni moto sana. Kumewaka moto na hakukaliki,” Alai said.

The outspoken MCA went further, claiming that Orengo himself was seeking a direct ODM ticket as he considers a return to the party ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“Orengo himself is begging to be given a direct ticket for the Siaya Governor and be welcomed back,” Alai claimed.

The remarks are likely to fuel fresh debate over the political future of Orengo and his allies as Nyanza's political landscape continues to evolve ahead of the 2027 elections.

Orengo has been at the centre of political realignments in the region, with his political camp increasingly attracting attention as different parties and movements position themselves for the next electoral contest.

Alai praises ODM supporters

Beyond Orengo and his allies, Alai also praised ODM supporters for what he described as an extraordinary level of loyalty to the party.

“I have never found ODM supporters so loyal to the party,” he said.

His comments suggest that Alai believes ODM's grassroots support remains formidable despite the political realignments that have taken place in recent months.

Bold prediction for Nairobi

Alai also turned his attention to Nairobi, making a striking prediction about ODM's potential performance in the capital in the 2027 elections.

“There is no way ODM won't get at least 65 seats in Nairobi,” he declared.

The claim is likely to attract considerable attention given Nairobi's importance in national politics and the large number of elective positions available across the county.

Alai then issued a blunt warning to politicians seeking political relevance outside the capital.

“If you are not in Nairobi, say BYE to politics,” he said.

His remarks have injected fresh drama into the growing political contest ahead of 2027, with Nairobi and Nyanza emerging as key battlegrounds in the struggle for political influence.
