Ruto bid farewell to Suquet at State House, Nairobi, as he highlighted the growing relationship between Kenya and France and wished the envoy well in his new assignment at the French Foreign Ministry.
The President said the two countries had in recent years “elevated our mutual relationship to new heights”, with their ties anchored on diplomatic and economic relations, strategic investments and high-level cooperation.
“The ties are strong and expanding, anchored on diplomatic and economic relations, strategic investments and high-level cooperation,” Ruto said.
Ruto cited the Africa Forward Summit, which he co-hosted with French President Emmanuel Macron in May 2026, as a major highlight of the relationship between the two countries.
The summit was the first time the event was held outside France or Francophone Africa, marking a significant milestone in Kenya-France relations.
During the summit, Kenya and France signed 11 bilateral agreements covering infrastructure, digital connectivity, education and energy.
Among the key agreements was the KSh12.5 billion upgrade of the Nairobi Commuter Rail, aimed at strengthening urban transport infrastructure in the capital.
The two countries also agreed to expand national digital connectivity, construct a science complex at the University of Nairobi and develop an aviation fuel project.
Ruto said the agreements demonstrated the expanding scope of cooperation between Kenya and France, with the partnership increasingly focused on strategic investments and development projects.
The President thanked Suquet for his service during his four-year tenure and wished him well as he takes up his new assignment.
Suquet’s departure comes as Kenya and France continue to deepen cooperation across infrastructure, technology, education, energy and other strategic areas.
