The move follows a viral KTN News exposé that claimed Ugandan nationals living along the border have acquired Kenyan IDs and are registering to vote ahead of the 2027 General Election.
First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has directed security and local authorities in Ugandan districts bordering Kenya to block any crossings meant for electoral activities.
Kadaga said Ugandans cannot hold allegiance to two countries at the same time and must choose one when it comes to voting.
The exposé alleged that some residents in Busia, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia border areas were helping Ugandan nationals get Kenyan documents. The report sparked heated debate on X, with Kenyans questioning IEBC preparedness with the election less than a year away - set for August 10, 2027.
Ugandan officials say arrests have started in border towns, though no official number has been released.
IEBC is yet to respond to the claims.
