Kanyari, the founder of Salvation Healing Ministry, handed over two trolleys to the single mothers and gave each of them Ksh 5,000 to help them start small businesses selling eggs and smokies.
He said the two women had approached him for assistance during his recent interactions with residents in Chieko.
“There are two young ladies I met in Chieko who asked me to give them a trolley. Today, I want to give them two trolleys and some money so that they can start a business,” Kanyari said.
The two beneficiaries are expected to use the trolleys and the seed capital to establish their businesses and generate income to support their families.
Kanyari gives Mwiki youths mkokoteni
Kanyari also extended his empowerment programme to a group of youths from Mwiki who had sought his assistance to expand their income-generating activities.
The youths had asked him to provide them with a mkokoteni and a motorcycle to support their garbage collection and animal feed transportation businesses.
Kanyari handed over the mkokoteni and provided seed capital to help the group strengthen its operations.
“Today, I will give you the mkokoteni and some seed capital to boost your business,” he said.
The youths thanked Kanyari for the support, saying the equipment would help them expand their businesses and improve their ability to provide for their families.
“We operate a car wash business, and we also do pig and fish farming as a group to ensure that we can sustain our families,” one of the beneficiaries said.
Why Kanyari could not provide the motorcycle
Kanyari said he could not immediately fulfil the youths' request for a motorcycle because the company that had previously supplied him with motorcycles had closed down.
He said the development had resulted in the recall of motorcycles he had acquired through the company.
“Right now, I can’t give you a motorcycle because the company I was getting the motorcycles from closed, so they were forced to recall all the bikes, including over 300 bikes that I had,” Kanyari said.
He added that he was in discussions with another company to acquire motorcycles and promised to support the youths once the process was completed.
“Now I am in talks with another company to acquire new motorcycles, then I will give you,” he added.
Kanyari's wider empowerment initiatives
The latest intervention adds to Kanyari's growing focus on practical economic empowerment, particularly among young people and vulnerable members of the community.
His empowerment activities have included support for motorcycles, mkokoteni, smokie-and-egg vending trolleys and other small businesses designed to provide beneficiaries with opportunities to earn a living.
He has also supported initiatives involving car washes and other youth-led businesses, while using his public platform to provide assistance to vulnerable residents.
The approach has increasingly become part of Kanyari's public engagement in Kasarani, where he is seeking to convince residents that young people can be supported to create their own sources of income.
Beyond business empowerment, Kanyari has also been involved in acts of compassion and direct assistance to members of the community, including food distribution initiatives targeting residents in need.
His supporters say the focus on practical support gives young people an opportunity to become economically independent rather than relying entirely on employment opportunities that are often difficult to find.
Kanyari makes Kasarani development promises
The empowerment activities come as Kanyari intensifies his political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Addressing Kasarani residents, Kanyari asked for their support in his bid for the parliamentary seat, promising to prioritise roads, water and development across the constituency if elected.
“I will ensure that Kasarani Constituency has the best roads, ensure there is water and development in all the places,” he said.
Kanyari also outlined an ambitious education agenda, promising to push for support for school uniforms, school fees for children from less fortunate families and free meals for pupils.
“Mimi nikichaguliwa kuwa mbunge wa Kasarani, hakuna mtoto atalipa school fees. Hata kidogo,” Kanyari said.
The pledge is one of his most significant campaign promises as he seeks to position himself as a candidate focused on education, youth empowerment and improved public services.
Kanyari praises Ndindi Nyoro's development record
Kanyari also expressed admiration for the development work associated with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
He cited Nyoro's constituency development record as an example of the kind of leadership he would like to pursue if elected to represent Kasarani.
The reference to Nyoro adds another dimension to Kanyari's political message as he seeks to convince Kasarani residents that his leadership would be measured through tangible development projects.
Kanyari's Kasarani 2027 ambitions
Kanyari's growing involvement in community empowerment has coincided with his preparations for the 2027 Kasarani parliamentary contest.
His recent activities have combined political mobilisation with direct engagement with residents, particularly young people, single mothers and groups involved in small-scale businesses.
From business trolleys and mkokoteni to seed capital and promised motorcycles, Kanyari has increasingly presented economic empowerment as a central part of his political message.
His challenge will now be to translate the growing visibility of his empowerment initiatives into political support as the race for the Kasarani parliamentary seat takes shape ahead of the 2027 election.
