Mercy Makini, the former wife of businessman and politician Morara Kebaso, has broken her silence over their personal dispute, accusing her former husband of repeatedly dragging her into his affairs despite her efforts to keep their private matters away from social media.

In a strongly worded statement, Makini said she had remained silent for years in the hope of finding peace but had now decided to speak out.

“Morara Kebaso, you have constantly dragged me into your affairs, even after repeatedly saying you don’t want our issues on social media,” Makini said.

“Yet you continue to provoke and mention me. Enough is enough.”

Makini said she walked away from the marriage because of what she described as domestic violence.

“First, I walked away because of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE,” she said.

She alleged that she was physically assaulted during the relationship, including while she was pregnant.

“You know very well what happened, including the times you physically assaulted me while I was expectant,” she alleged.

Makini said she eventually reached a point where she felt leaving was the only option.

“I eventually said enough was enough, walked away, and chose to rebuild my life in peace,” she said.

She added that she left Kebaso’s home on March 2, 2026.

“I left your home on 2nd March 2026, and I have never looked back,” she stated.

Mercy Makini speaks on Morara Kebaso’s polygamy claims

Makini also addressed recent discussions surrounding Kebaso’s relationships and polygamy, insisting that she should no longer be portrayed as being part of his current personal affairs.

“As for this talk about polygamy, please stop creating the impression that I am still part of your life,” she said.

“Polygamy is your business, not mine. I left. I moved on. I am living my life.”

According to Makini, she had deliberately chosen silence because she wanted to protect the privacy of their personal matters.

“I have been the quiet one for a long time because I wanted to keep private matters private,” she said.

However, she accused Kebaso of continuing to involve her in his public narrative.

“But you have chosen to bring the whole world into this, and I will no longer allow you to continuously play the victim while dragging my name into your narrative,” she said.

Makini addresses court case involving Morara Kebaso

Makini also hinted at a court case involving the two but said she was not ready to discuss the details publicly.

“Should I address the court case? Not now,” she said.

“But for the record, you are the one who sued me. I only responded.”

She claimed that she has documents relating to the case and could produce them if the circumstances required her to address the matter.

“I have the documents to prove it should that conversation ever become necessary,” she said.

‘I will no longer choose silence’

Makini said she had remained quiet for seven years, hoping that the situation would eventually settle.

“I kept quiet for seven years, hoping for peace, but the disrespect never stopped,” she said.

She now says she has decided to break her silence.

“I will no longer choose silence,” Makini said.

“Because the more I keep quiet, the louder the disrespect becomes.”

Makini ended her statement with a direct message to her former husband.

“Clean your name without dragging mine into it,” she said.

“I have moved on, and I intend to keep it that way.”

Makini’s claims about domestic violence and the court dispute are allegations from her side and have not been independently established by the statement alone. Any response from Kebaso would provide his side of the dispute.
