Cleophas Malalah’s Bid to Reclaim UDA SG Position Fails in Tribunal

Senator Cleophas Malalah’s attempt to regain his position as Secretary General (SG) of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has been unsuccessful after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal rejected his plea for reinstatement.

This follows a series of over ten petitions filed by the former Secretary General, challenging his removal from the party.

In his arguments before the tribunal, Malalah contended that the process leading to his ouster was flawed.

However, during the proceedings, a significant contradiction emerged—by disputing the legitimacy of his removal, Malalah inadvertently questioned the process of his own appointment.

This unexpected development put Malalah in a difficult position, as the tribunal was compelled to consider whether his initial appointment as UDA Secretary General was lawful.

The outcome of this challenge has not only hindered Malalah’s efforts to be reinstated but also cast doubt on the legitimacy of his original appointment.

With the tribunal’s decision, Malalah’s path back to the UDA leadership remains uncertain, as his legal battle may have inadvertently weakened his standing within the party.

The former Kakamega senator was ousted last by the parties NEC committee.
