The National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has said that every region needs a strong political party as other regions have their parties and there’s no sin with a region having their strong party.

The Democratic Party (DP) presidential Candidate lamented that, unlike other regions, the Mt. Kenya region has only small parties that leaders are forming.

“Unfortunately, in Mt Kenya region, we only have small parties that every leader is forming. Recently, we held a consultative meeting with Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi who formed the DEP party, but unfortunately, he’s more concerned with Meru county only not the larger region.“ Muturi said.

“We also have my friend William Kabogo who formed Tujibebe party but he’s eying for the Kiambu County gubernatorial seat.”

“We have Martha Karua of NARC Kenya. Who recently declared her interest for the Kirinyaga County gubernatorial seat. We have Mwangi Kiunjuri of TSP who is eying for the Member of Parliament post in Laikipia East constituency. Now, how will you lead the region while you an MP.” He lamented.

The former Siakago Constituency now Mbeere North urged Mount Kenya Leaders to fold their parties and form a formidable party that will represent their interests.

“I’m calling upon all Mt Kenya region leaders we come together and form a formidable party, a party that has the desire of our people. Let us bargain a party with those who want to coalise with us but not as individuals.” The speaker said.

Muturi said that he will not join any coalition as an individual but as a party. He also took a swipe at United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party that they bought Amani National Congress (ANC) party and got Ford Kenya party for free.

“Tusikubali kununuliwa, UDA walipata offer ya Buy one get one free, buy ANC get Ford Kenya free.” Muturi laughed off the merger.
