Octopizzo Opposes Reported Plan to Transfer Ebola Patients to Kenya, Demands Transparency

Kenyan rapper and activist Octopizzo has strongly opposed reports suggesting that foreign Ebola patients could be transferred to Kenya for quarantine or treatment, insisting that any such arrangement must be subjected to public scrutiny, transparency, and national consensus.

The artist’s remarks come amid growing public debate over reports surrounding a proposed health facility linked to Ebola research and containment in Kenya. While the issue has generated sharp political reactions, Octopizzo warned against making decisions that could affect public health without fully informing citizens.

In a statement shared on social media, the rapper expressed concern over what he described as a lack of transparency in the reported plans.

“The reported attempt to transfer and quarantine foreign patients in Kenya without full public transparency and national consensus is deeply troubling,” he said.

Octopizzo argued that Kenya’s sovereignty and the welfare of its citizens must remain at the centre of any international health agreement involving the country.

“Kenya is a sovereign nation, not a dumping ground for the world’s health crises. Any arrangement involving the relocation of Ebola infected patients must be stopped,” he stated.

The musician further criticized what he termed a persistent tendency by wealthier nations to view African countries as convenient destinations for challenges they would be unwilling to accommodate themselves.

“What is equally concerning is the lingering attitude that African nations can be treated as convenient destinations for problems wealthier countries would never accept within their own borders,” he said.

Calling for a shift in how Africa is engaged on global issues, Octopizzo emphasized that the continent deserves equal treatment and respect in international partnerships.

“In the 21st century, Africa must be engaged as an equal partner, not as an afterthought,” he declared.

He maintained that the health, safety, and dignity of Kenyans should take precedence over all other considerations, particularly in matters involving infectious diseases and quarantine facilities.

“The dignity, safety, and health of Kenyan citizens must remain paramount,” he said.

Octopizzo added that if any quarantine or containment facility is to be established in Kenya, it must operate under strict oversight and accountability measures.

“Any quarantine or containment facility established in Kenya should be subjected to rigorous public scrutiny, transparent oversight, and the highest standards of accountability,” he stated.

His comments add to a growing national conversation that has attracted political leaders, health stakeholders, and members of the public, many of whom have called for greater clarity regarding the objectives, safety measures, and management of any facility associated with Ebola research or containment.

The debate has also reignited broader discussions about public participation in government decisions, national sovereignty, and Africa’s place in global health partnerships.

As public interest in the matter continues to grow, calls for transparency and clear communication from authorities are expected to remain at the centre of the discussion.
