Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho Dies at Nairobi Hospital

NAIROBI, Kenya — March 29, 2026

Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho has died while undergoing treatment at The Nairobi Hospital, the National Assembly has confirmed.

In an official communication, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula said the third-term legislator passed away at around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday.

“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify Members of the National Assembly and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of the Member for Ol Kalou.”

The news of David Kiaraho’s death has sent shockwaves across the political landscape, with leaders and constituents mourning a lawmaker widely regarded for his commitment to public service.


Who Was David Kiaraho?

Born on October 2, 1963, David Njuguna Kiaraho was serving his third term as Ol Kalou MP, having first been elected during the 2013 General Election.

He attended Alliance High School before joining the University of Nairobi, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.

Before entering politics, Kiaraho built a successful career as an architect and served as Principal Architect at Archgrid Systems, a background that shaped his contributions to infrastructure development in Parliament.


Parliamentary Service and Leadership

Until his death, the Ol Kalou MP served in key committees, including the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure and the Procedure and House Rules Committee.

“Until his untimely demise, the late Hon. Kiaraho served the National Assembly with diligence and commitment.”

Colleagues described him as a focused and pragmatic legislator who consistently championed development in his constituency and beyond.


Condolences and Funeral Plans

Following David Kiaraho’s death, the National Assembly has constituted a funeral preparation committee to coordinate burial arrangements.

Speaker Wetang’ula said the team will be led by Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, assisted by Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau and other Members of Parliament.

“On behalf of all Members and staff of the National Assembly, and indeed on my own behalf, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Hon. Kiaraho.”
