President Uhuru Kenyatta, today, has appointed Prof Olive Mugenda as the Chair of Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital Board.
The Former Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor will be serving a three-year second term.
Mugenda was appointed on April 1, 2019, by President Uhuru Kenyatta, through a gazette notice to serve for three years.
Her appointment in 2019 was challenged by activist Okiya Omutata who argued that she was unlawfully handpicked by the president.
“Prof Mugenda is not qualified for appointment to be chairperson of Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral, and Research Hospital because she is still an employee of Kenyatta University, therefore, she cannot sit on the KUTRRH board where the Kenyatta University Council is represented, and the university’s vice-chancellor is a member. This creates a conflict of interest,” he argued.
The former VC will Chair the Board until 2025.
