Ruto, You Are The Arsonist!” – Rigathi Gachagwa Explodes Over Gen Z Crackdown

Kenya’s political temperature has reached boiling point after former Deputy President and DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua issued a blistering attack on President William Ruto, accusing his government of orchestrating a state-sponsored crackdown on peacefulGen Z protesters.

In a searing 18-point stat ement, Gachagua condemned what he termed as “gooniRuto, You Are The Arsonist!” – Gachaguw Explodes Over Gen Z Crackdownsh state tactics” and the use of live bullets against unarmed youths during protests held nationwide on June 25, marking the anniversary of police brutality victims.

“You Used Bullets on Peaceful Children”

“In the strongest terms possible, I condemn the use of excessive force and live bullets on peaceful and unarmed Gen Z protesters,” Gachagua stated.

“Mr. Ruto, intimidating our youth only complicates matters for your rogue regime.”

He accused the President and top officials of betraying the youth, whom he said were only demanding justice, jobs, and dignity — promises Ruto allegedly made but has since reneged on.

“Goons in Uniform, Chaos by Design”

According to Gachagua, the looting and violence witnessed in parts of Nairobi were not acts of the protesters, but part of a sinister plot involving state-sponsored thugs:

“You blocked peaceful Gen Z protestors on Kiambu and Thika Roads while allowing hired goons into the city to wreak havoc. This was a calculated attempt to criminalize the movement,” he declared.

He further alleged that businesses were targeted along ethnic lines and looted under police protection, with county officials reportedly identifying the victims beforehand.

Blacked Out & Blamed

In a chilling revelation, Gachagua claimed that major TV signals were switched off during the height of the protests to facilitate the looting without media oversight:

“The government deliberately shut down national broadcasters in an orchestrated scheme to allow state goons to destroy property unrecorded. And now, Murkomen pretends to visit looted shops to cover up his guilt. Kenyans are not fools.”

Ethnic Profiling Allegation

The DCP leader reserved fierce criticism for Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen, whom he accused of inciting ethnic division after reportedly describing the protests as a Kikuyu uprising:

“Let me remind you — the Kikuyu community voted for you to a man. Stop profiling them to divert attention from your own failures,” he fired.

“Gen Zs Have Refused to Be Silenced”

In perhaps his most moving moment, Gachagua described the Gen Z protestors as Kenya’s most patriotic generation:

“They have been abducted, tortured, and even killed — yet they refuse to be silenced. They have faced your violence with bravery and have shed blood for their future.”

“Mr. Ruto, when the story of this era is written, consider very carefully what your legacy will be.”

Standing Down in Solidarity

As a mark of respect, Gachagua announced he would cancel all media and public engagements scheduled for this weekend:

“I stand with the young people who lost their lives and the business community who have suffered. My engagements in Embu are postponed until further notice.”

ANALYSIS: Why This Matters

This explosive statement comes at a time when Kenya’s streets are erupting in youth-led resistance, fueled by frustration over governance, unemployment, and rising authoritarianism.

Gachagua’s public break from Ruto’s administration — and his direct accusation of state-sponsored terror — signals a potential realignment in national politics ahead of 2027
