Sudi Gifts Car to Longtime Friend Archbishop Paul Gathuo in Recognition of Two Decades of Service

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has gifted a vehicle to Archbishop Paul Stephen Gathuo of Israel Assemblies of God (IAG), Kondoo Local Church in Burnt Forest, Uasin Gishu County, in recognition of the cleric’s decades-long service in ministry and community peacebuilding.

The legislator described Archbishop Gathuo as a close friend, brother, and respected religious leader whose efforts have helped foster peace and unity in a region that has, at different times, experienced ethnic and political tensions.

“Today I had the honour of gifting a car to my good friend and brother, Archbishop Paul Stephen Gathuo of Israel Assemblies of God, Kondoo Local Church, Burnt Forest, Uasin Gishu County,” Sudi said.

According to the MP, his friendship with the Archbishop spans more than 20 years and has been built on mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to serving the community.

“For over 20 years our friendship has stood the test of time,” Sudi stated.

He praised the church leader for using his position to unite people from different backgrounds and champion peaceful coexistence among residents of Burnt Forest and neighbouring areas.

“Archbishop Gathuo has been more than a church leader, he’s been a true peace ambassador in Burnt Forest, a voice that brings people together,” he added.

Burnt Forest, located in Uasin Gishu County, has historically been regarded as one of the areas where religious leaders have played a critical role in reconciliation efforts and promoting harmony among communities. Local clergy have often worked alongside government officials, elders, and community leaders to encourage peaceful coexistence and dialogue.

Sudi said the vehicle was intended to support the Archbishop’s pastoral work and ease movement as he continues carrying out evangelism, community outreach, and church activities across the region.

“This is a small gift, but my prayer is that it eases his work and helps him reach more souls as he continues serving in ministry,” he said.

The MP further noted that leaders who dedicate their lives to serving society deserve recognition and support, especially those who use their influence to promote peace and moral values.

“People like Archbishop Gathuo have dedicated their lives to serving God and humanity. Their contribution to society cannot be measured only by what they preach but also by the peace and hope they inspire in communities,” Sudi remarked.

The gesture has been welcomed by members of the church and local residents, many of whom view it as a fitting recognition of the Archbishop’s years of service. Several congregants described Archbishop Gathuo as a humble and accessible leader who has remained committed to spiritual growth and community development.

The donation also highlights the close relationship that often exists between political and religious leaders, particularly in regions where faith-based institutions play a significant role in social development, conflict resolution, and community empowerment.

As Archbishop Gathuo continues his ministry in Burnt Forest and beyond, Sudi expressed hope that the vehicle will enhance his mobility and enable him to reach more people with his message of faith, unity, and peace.

“My prayer is that it eases his work and helps him reach more souls,” Sudi reiterated.
