If you’re heading into Nairobi CBD, turn back or delay your travel. Police have erected multiple roadblocks and closed key access points ahead of today’s Saba Saba demonstrations, citing security concerns.
According to the Nairobi Traffic Command, the following roads are currently inaccessible:

- Thika Road – closed at Guru Nanak heading into town
- Roysambu – both footbridge and roundabout sealed
- Ngong Road – closed at City Mortuary
- Argwings Kodhek Road – blocked at DoD roundabout
- Waiyaki Way – sealed off at Kangemi overpass
- Bunyala Roundabout – completely inaccessible
- Madaraka Roundabout – closed
- Jogoo Road – blocked at Nyayo Stadium
- Kiambu Road – shut at DCI headquarters
- Valley Road – restricted
- Kasarani Exit and Allsopps Interchange – closed
- Landhies Road – no access
- Uhuru Highway and Kenyatta Avenue – shut down
Nairobi Regional Police Commander Adamson Bungei urged the public to stay away from the CBD.
“These measures are temporary and meant to ensure public safety during the protests. We urge Kenyans to cooperate.”
Expect severe traffic disruption, longer commute times, and random police checks throughout the day. If possible, use outer bypasses or delay non-essential travel.
