The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati has announced new dates for presidential candidates to name their running mates.
Chebukati announced that the commission has decided that the date will be on May 16, 2022.
Chebukati was speaking at the IEBC’s headquarters after meeting with officials from political parties at IEBC offices who had protested against Chebukati’s directive that all political parties should submit names of their running mates by April 28, as the deadline

“The date for submission of the list for Presidential candidates and deputies as well as gubernatorial candidates and their deputies will be on May 16, 2022. Candidates seeking to vie for the seats as deputies will also be required to submit their names on the same date,” Chebukati said
The representatives were drawn from the Kenya Kwanza, Azimio-One Kenya coalition, Safina party, as well as independent parties.
